been three weeks already as a regimental policeman. HAH! the job is damned cool man!
i mean, i have to (force to) look it at a positive angle, to prevent myself from swallowing the fact that i have to do guard duty for the rest of my NS life.
so it is only fair for me to share my job scope: during duty, stand at the sentry post for 2 hrs and be amazed by anything or anyone that moves to take your mind off boredom. other than that, you've got visits (like entertaing dudes from the thai royal army), and prowling. for duty, its 2 hours sentry, 2 hours (supposedly; but we took less than 15 mins) prowling and 2 hours (supposedly; but its usually 4 hours :p) rest.
TO BE PRECISE, during duty, i work for a mere 2 hours, then sleep/rest/ watch TV, then wait for lunch, then work, then sleep/rest/ watch TV, then wait for dinner, and the whole vicious cycle repeat itself for 24 hours.
if you think thats the best part, its only the tip of the iceberg.
we work for a schedule of 3 days: 1 day duty, 1 day off, and 1 day standby. for duty, day, i've elaborated as above, and for off, u must be stoooopid for me to explain that. for standby, we helped out the duty team at the peak hour, and after that, u've got the whole camp (literally) to urself. u can go swimming, gym, soccer, badminton, anything! u can even go in and out the camp like ur father owns the place after office hours. the last standby i did was to eat during lunch, sleep, go out to jurong point for dinner, and then back to camp to sleep again.
to summarise, my job is to do sentry, eat, sleep, and watch TV for the remaining 1/1/2 yrs of my army life.
to conclude, PLS LEMMEE GAIN WEIGHT and hope cuk dun mind!! :p
